A Week of Thanks

A Daily Blessings Meme

Day #3- My workplace

I know I have complained about my job in the past, but I really do work for a wonderful company. I am very thankful that this company took me in and has had enough confidence to move me ahead in the four years I have been here. I especially appreciate the way that my co-workers have been there for me this past year.

Types of Co-WorkersWhen my dad had a heart attack and then quadruple bypass surgery in May, my co-workers didn’t blink about the time that I had to take off. They stepped into my class and taught my students without a single word of dissention.

Then, when my sister went into pre-term labor while my parents had my kids four states away (leaving me the only family member to be there for her while she was having her baby) They understood and again stepped up to the plate. They never asked for anything in return.

And just when I was ready to help them out, take their classes for them to have some time off the unthinkable occured… My daughter was diagnosed with Cancer.

Their reaction?

They gave all three kids halloween gift baskets overflowing with candy. They kept my humor up after the surgery and gave me something to laugh about. They became better friends than some of my friends outside of work. All of them had their own family issues occuring (terminal cancer, heart attacks, cancer scares, divorces) yet each one of them helped me out when I needed them most.

There are 6 of us, but many of us have applied for new positions within the company. One has her last day tomorrow.

I am so blessed to have had  the opportunity to work with this group of people. I will always treasure thier kindness in my heart. I hate to see this group break up, but I am glad that they were in my life at the time I truly needed them most.
