A Week of Thanks
Day 4- Nature
Every morning I have the privelge of watching the sunrise as I drive into work. There are many on the roads that join me watching the sunrise, but many more that sleep in. I have seen the most beautiful paintings painted before my eyes. Every morning is a new canvas. Because I live so far from my work (2-2 1/2 hours away one way) I also get to see the sunset every night. I have never seen the same sunrise or sunset. Every one is different, and sometimes I see colors that haven’t been named yet.
I have been fortunate to live in the dryest desert (Southern Arizona) where the beauty lies in tall mountains, cactus, and big sky. I have also lived in Virginia where trees, flowers, and grass grows naturally. Both places are equally beautiful and always changing. The sights and sounds are as opposite as they can be, but both are unique and beautiful.
I love each season as they pass through my life marking time that has passed. From the cold winter providing relief from the heat and fun in the snow, to spring with all its beauty, to summer with bar-b-que’s in the park and family time together, to fall with the leaves and the hint of the cold to come, each season is unique.
I am most thankful for my cat Spirit, and my dogs Buster, Perriwinkle and Poppy. Spirit reminds me everyday how God cares for even the most unlikely animals. I rescued him off an interstate when he was a kitten and moments from running out into traffic. Buster is another rescue and he has been a faithful friend to the kids and I for over 8 years. The new puppies Poppy and Perriwinkle are more excited to see me when I get home than anyone else in the family. They lick my face and lay on my lap and show me everyday that they love me.
I thank God for taking time everyday to show me how much he loves me by giving me these things.
