Kids say the funniest things…

Recently it was Kids Day at my job. I work for one of the largest credit unions in the world. They do Kids Day big. They start with a welcome from the President of the company. Then they have the kids attend age appropriate seminars and talk to them about saving money or career building stuff, some team building stuff too. Kids from age 9-18 are welcome to attend. Then they have a grilled picnic lunch with the parents and have a moon bounce and Dippin Dots for dessert. Then in the afternoon they listen to a guest speaker (like a Harlem Globetrotter) and then they go sit with their parents for about 2 hours before they go home.

My kids have attended this day with me and LOVE it. Every year I am reminded of what happened a few years ago at Kids Day. The President of the company went before the children to talk about how money doesn’t make people happy. The parents, including me, were back at work. He was talking about all the things that Donald Trump had, and how he was the richest man in the world.

Then he asked the kids a question:

“What do you have that Donald Trump doesn’t have?”

The kids all were silent for a long moment. No one could answer… There was nothing that they had that Donald Trump didn’t have…until my daughter… my sweet innocent 10 yr old daughter realized that she had something he didn’t. She raised her hand excitedly and with enthusiasim.

The President saw her hand and asked

“You have something that Donald Trump doesn’ have?”

“I have a vagina” was her reply

Everyone always remembers her when she comes to Kids Day with me, even to this day.
